Idea Generators & Idea Killers

There are two kinds of people in business: idea generators and idea killers. Sounds like a nice even distribution but wait-for every idea generator, there are legions of close-minded, short-sighted gremlins who can’t wait to squash ideas like insects. Why? Because they are incapable of generating ideas, their only revenge is to discredit the ideas of others.

“That’s too risky.”
“Oh, that will never work.”
“What if someone finds that offensive?”

Which leads to a key driver of business success: you need to develop a powerful idea, a killer app, and then recognize that the hard part begins as you wade through the mud the gremlins will shovel in your path. If success as a manager only takes idea generation, college professors would be captains of industry. To truly succeed, you need the guts, the determination, absolute unwavering will to take the gremlins by the nape of the neck, shove them into the Cracker Jack box they inhabit and fight like hell to bring your idea to market.

One good acid test of your own ability to serve as a catalyst for change and growth is the knowledge that the gremlins despise you. To that I say, “bravo!”
